What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is the mechanism that allows you to make digital payments with your iPhone. It is part of the Wallet application and was designed to eliminate the need to carry physical credit and debit cards. Apple Pay, like Google Pay and Samsung Pay, allows users to enter card details from their real-life credit and debit cards. Instead of digging through your handbag to find your physical credit card, you can use your iPhone to make purchases online or in stores using your virtual credit card.

To begin a transaction, Apple Pay requires that you authenticate yourself. You can use Face ID, a fingerprint scanner, or passcode to confirm your identity. It’s even easier to use Apple pay in stores as you only have to hold the iPhone near the NFC payment terminal and wait for the confirmation screen to appear. To make an online purchase, you must first confirm your identity before the software takes control and completes the transaction for you.

To use Apple Pay, you don’t need a credit card. Instead, you can add an Apple Card as a credit card (see below for more details) and use Apple Cash to transfer money between your friends and loved ones.

Are Apple Pay, Apple Card & Apple Cash the same?

With so many different titles being thrown around, it’s easy to become lost in Apple’s payment system. The integration of payments into iOS and watchOS necessitates some familiarization. Even though they all reside in the Apple Wallet, each service serves a different purpose.

I have explained what apple pay is in the above section. But I’ll briefly compare Apple Pay, Apple Card & Apple Cash for better understanding.
Apple Pay, as mentioned previously, is a closed online payment system. Like other closed systems, it can only be used with vendors and banks that the system’s administrators have approved. You can’t use Apple Pay on Amazon yet.

Apple Card is the credit card of Apple which is backed by Mastercard and Goldman Sachs. There are interest rates and cashback rewards like a traditional credit card, but it’s mostly used as a digital credit card on your smartphone or tablet.

Apple Cash is a built-in feature of the Apple Pay platform that enables you to send, receive, and request money using iMessage. Apple refers to it as a “reloadable prepaid debit card stored in your Apple Wallet.” It’s similar to Venmo, but you’ll need to fund your Apple Cash account through the Wallet app using your debit card. Apple Cash is compatible with all iOS devices, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.

Can you use Apple.Pay on Amazon?

Unfortunately, unlike other shopping sites, Amazon does not seamlessly integrate Apple Pay into its checkout system.

However, if you have Apple Cash and Apple Card, there are two methods you can make payments on Amazon.

Method I

You can use it directly on Amazon if you are an Apple Cardholder. As the first step, you should locate your Apple Card number and then enter it into the Amazon entry field.

How to add your Apple Card or Apple Wallet cards on Amazon

1. Log in to your Amazon account using a Pc or Mac computer
2. In the top toolbar, click the dropdown arrow next to “Account & Lists.” This appears just beneath the search tool, under a personalized greeting.
3. Click on “Account.”

4. On the next screen, select ” Your Payments” from the “Ordering and shopping preferences” category.

5. Select “Add a payment method”.

6. Click on “ Add a debit or credit card”

Amazon accepts all major credit cards, and you can begin by clicking the first entry box to begin entering a new card. If you’ve configured Touch ID and Keychain to save credit cards, these options should display in a dropdown menu.

Using this method, you can easily make payments on Amazon.

Method II

In this method, we make payments on Amazon using Apple Cash. However, we need Apple Cards as a bridge to use Apple Cash As Apple Cash is also not supported on Amazon.

It is important to understand that Amazon doesn’t support Apple Cash. However, there is a way around it. In simple terms, you can use your Apple Card to make payments on Amazon. You can use your Apple Cash balance to pay your Apple Card as Apple Cash is linked with the wallet app on your iPhone.

How to pay Apple Card bill using Apple Cash

1. On your iPhone, open the wallet app.
2. Click on the “Apple Cash Card”
3. Click on the black pay button.
4. Slide the dial with your finger to choose the amount you want to pay.
5. Click on “Pay Now”
6. Tap on your bank account, and then toggle the Apple Cash switch so that it’s green.
7. Now tap the Black button.
8. Authenticate using Touch ID, Face Id, or Passcode.
